Communicable Disease Control
A student who has a contagious disease must be excluded from school until the danger of transmitting the disease to others has passed.
24-Hour Rule
For 24 hours before returning to school, a child must be free of any obvious signs of illness such as vomiting, diarrhea, and/or fever (without the use of fever-reducing medicine such as acetominophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil).
Communicable Disease Readmission Rules
Students excluded for reason of communicable disease will be readmitted by one or more of the following criteria, as determined by the local health authority:- Certificate of the attending physician or local health authority verifying that the student is no longer contagious
- Exclusion for a period of time corresponding to the duration of the communicability of the disease, as established by the commissioner of health.
