Important Changes for the Pre-Participation Physical Exam for the 2020/2021 School Year

Due to the Covid19 virus and the effect it has had on the health care system, the UIL has made changes to the pre-participation physical exam requirements for the 2020/2021 school year as follows:

  1.       All pre-participation physical exams from the 2019/2020 school year will be valid for the 2020/2021 school year. So, under most circumstances, if participants have a UIL physical on file with DPISD for this year, they will NOT have to get a physical for next year.
  2.       If participants do not have a UIL physical on file with DPISD for the 19/20 school year, they will be required to get a physical prior to participation next year.  This will include all incoming 7th grade athletes and anyone who is new to participation in athletics, escorts, cheer, or high school marching band.
  3.       All participants will be required to complete the medical history form which is now an electronic form on the RankOne website. Any participant who answers yes to certain questions on the medical history will be required to get a physical prior to participation.

If you are required to obtain a physical, please be sure you bring the most current form with you to your physician.  We can only accept physicals completed on the current UIL physical form.  You can download and print the latest form from the RankOne website.

DPISD requires that all required athletic paperwork is done and submitted to the Athletic Trainers PRIOR to any try outs.  Students in an athletic period must meet this requirement to stay in an athletic period even if the try outs for their sport is not until later in the school year.
